Day 1- getting to NYC

Had a great couple of days wrapped into one. Didn't sleep much on the plane, but we got to Brooklyn in good time thanks to the best shuttle driver ever (shoutout to Greg from North Carolina for that one). Maksim's mother met us and had a huge Russian breakfast ready. It was delicious!!! We were all pretty dang tired so we took a three hour nap and then put the bikes together. Some of Maksim's friends called from Coney Island about a mermaid parade so we went down there and hit that up. It was pretty sweet. The beach was beautiful and blue and the weather was perfect mid 70's. After that we took care of a few last minute shopping things and then met up with cousin Carly at a little barbeque in Manhatten. We started heading back after that and stopped to get some Belgian french fries with Wasabi mayo sauce. The train got delayed so we didn't get back until about ten, but then Maksim's mother had another delicious and huge meal prepared. Its time to hit the hay though. We have to get up in five hours to start this whole thing officially.
Peace out,
Devin Mattson

sounds like a good start of a great trip. Break a leg, or more appropriately, flat a tire!
